Statement of Faith

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the verbal and plenary inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). We use only King James Version.

THE PERSON OF GOD

We believe in God, the Supreme Eternal Being, the source and beginning of all things, absolute in His attributes existing in Trinity. (Genesis 1:1, 2; Psalm 53:1)

THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His deity, His sinless life, and vicarious death and resurrection. We believe in His pre-millennial return. (Romans 9:5; Philippians 2:5-11).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Person of the Holy Spirit.  We believe that He indwells the believers and empowers them for service.

(John 16:7-13; Acts 5:3, 4)

MAN

We believe that man was created by God in His image and by His own personal choice fell into sin and is under condemnation.

(Genesis 1:26, 27; Romans 3:10-23)

SALVATION

We believe that salvation is wholly by grace and that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation.

(John 3:16; Acts 16:30, 31)

THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVERS

We believe that those who received the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior are eternally saved and the security of the believer’s rests upon the finished work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary.

(1 John 5:11-13; John 10:28)

HEAVEN AND HELL

We believe in the eternal blessedness of the saved in Heaven and the eternal punishment of the lost in Hell of eternal life.

(Revelations 21:4; Luke 16:19-31)

THE CHURCH

We believe that the New Testament Church is a congregation of baptized believers by immersion, practicing New Testament principles, holding forth its doctrines, observing its ordinances, exercising its autonomy and proclaiming Christ’s Gospel.

(Matthew 16:16-18)

SEPARATION

We believe in personal separation and ecclesiastical separation.  We take a stand against any trends in doctrine and practice which leads to descending the Bible and undermining the Fundamentals of Faith.

NEO-ORTHODOXY – This theological persuasion is a futile attempt to reconcile the higher scientific criticism with the true Biblical interpretation.  Such an appeal to Biblical revelation is based in half-truths and as such is false and deceptive.  We utterly reject this method and position.

NEO-EVANGELICALISM – This movement, while claiming to be fundamental in Theology has compromised the underlying principles of the Christian Faith.  It questions inspiration, literal interpretation, accept liberals as Christians, take a new attitude toward the ecumenical movement, promotes ecumenical evangelism, denies both ethical and ecclesiastical separation, re-structures eschatology and over-stress the social aspects of the Gospel.  We hold this stand to be non-Scriptural.

ECUMENICAL MOVEMENT – This movement which attempts to unite different faiths today based on the least common denominator of doctrine and is a betrayal of the unity of believers based upon sound doctrine of the historic Christian Faith.  Its dialogue with other religions is dialectical.  Its method of operation is subversive and shows a tendency to totalitarianism.  Its concept of an ecclesiastical kingdom is not supported by Scripture.  We reject all cooperation with this movement.

TONGUES MOVEMENT – We believe that the gift of tongues was given as a sign to Israel and like the gifts to the Apostles and Prophecy, which were for the founding of the Church, are therefore not being given today.  Ambassador Baptist Church will not accept nor tolerate anyone who is speaking in tongues.
